No need for the Shambles to "cry over spilt milk" as they knock "The Mug" over!

Week 5 of the season. Having played so wel last week and losing, how would this week's game pan out?

Would Lady luck hold he Shambles to her bosom or squeeze their nads like they were stress balls? The Shambles were hoping for "Bitty", in the form of the sweet taste of success.

Shambles kick off and straight away tried to engage in smart interplay, but it did not quite come off.

However, the Shambles had the first effort as Blues found himself in front of goal with the ball coming towards him. Sadly, at this early stage, Blues' legs showed all the co-ordination of a drunken giraffe on an ice rink, scuffing the ball tamely to the keeper.

Both sides were trying to instigate attacks, but were displaying as much penetration as Dale Winton in the Playboy mansion. No shots into the box here!

Next it was the turn off Blues and Jethro to share a mix up. Blues hit a pass back too soft, at the same time Jethro hesitated resulting in the ball dweeling in No Man's land and being picked up by The Mug. A A Mug player hit his shot from close range, which Clint did well to save. However he only palmed it to another Mug-ger on the other side of goal who unleashed a shot. Reacting cat-like, Clint made another great save, actually turning his face away, anxious not to cramp his sharking style later in the clubs. He does not like to disappoint the ladies!!

Again James made another fine save. Shambles a bit wobbly.

Both sides were leaving gaps but they were not exploited. At times Postie was the only defence, again. Big shoulders that man!

Flash tried to restore some stability as he searched for his goal scoring mojo, hitting a great shot across the keeper who did well to palm away the goal bound effort.

Blues was next to have a shot saved. At last some pressure!

Worst now took up the mantle of the absent "Offensive defender", popping up in a forward position he hit a great shot against the post. Unlucky!

Saint to sinner! Worst showed his other side on the edge of the area. Picking up the loose ball just outside the area, I willed him to pass back to the keeper. That would be too simple!! I know, I'llpass tamely across the area. NOOOOOooooo.....a Mug player intercepted but produced no threat.

Suddenly the Mug broke down the wing, but Postie broke up the play with a great professional ankle tap, holding up his hands immediately. Round of applause for that man, great thinking.

Worst again, preferring the forward play at the moment hit a shot wide of goal. He was determined to go on holiday with a goal. I was more concerned about him going on holiday from his defensive duties!!

The Shambles broke down the left of the Mug goal, the ball eventually finding Blues. Hitting it with no real pace, he placed it accurately in to the net. Lady luck I've never seen a finer pair!!  1-0.

Half time.

Second half. Flash instantly pressurizes the opposition. had he seen a mirage and thought the player was a giant Wispa gold??

This was followed by a some good interplay by the Shambles, butit did not last.

For the following few minutes their play became erratic, but when needed they showed dogged defensive qualities to save the day. The Mug dominated for a while but failed to produce any threatening efforts.

Up pops Will.I.Am to hit a nice goal.......2-0. Shake those hooters, Lady luck!

What's this, Worst is back from awol, he defends well to stop a Mug attack.

Blues was unlucky as his through ball did not quite reach Worst who was off on his hols again.

Blues now went direct and scored the third.....4-0...only joking....3-0.

Soon after, another lapse in concentration allowed an unmarked Mug-ger to receive the ball on the wing and hit it home from a reasonable distance. Doh.

Worst hit a shot past the post, unlucky.

Another chance for the Mug as the Shambles, particularly Will, stop and appeal for handball. Play to the whistle boys, Graham's reffing and does not always appear to be watching! Meeee-ow...you bet!!

Feeling confident Worst decides to practice another soft, too soft, pass across goal. No damage done. Worst, this is one occasion where practice does not make perfect. stop it, the nerves can;t take it.

Final whistle.

Managers verdict: Not as smooth as last week but we got the win. Keep playing with that dogged determination and get the flowing play consistent and we can climb that table. Well done boys.

Worst enjoy your holiday!!
