Names can be deceptive, and Phoenix 'old boys' certainly doesnt tell the story that was tonights game. Phoenix turned up with a team younger  and stronger looking than the Shambles. The Shambles knew they would again have to lift their game to match the opposition.

The Shambles started slowly and were caught out with Phoenix taking an early lead. The Shambles were rather lucky not to go two behind with a well taken Phoenix shot hitting the inside of the post and skidding along the goal line but fortunately not crossing it.

After a few minutes Captain Shirehorse, returning from sickness, came on as a substitutute for Dave.

Playing in a rather unfamiliar role of striker, the change was instantly rewarded with two quickfire goals by Carl which gave The Shambles a 2-1 advantage. Although it is hard to actually determine what Tims involvement was in the build up. It could be said he was the Worcester Source in the casserole. You're not quite sure what the flavouring is but it  adds to the taste.

Further changes ensued, and the Shambles never looked like being beaten from then on in, some nifty footwork by Dave and a Scorcher of a shot made it 3 which was followed by a belter to make it 4 and took Daves tally to 2. Dave again played a cracking game but credit goes to Carl who bagged his first hat-trick of the Season after a freekick by Tim was threaded through an eye of a needle to find Carl imposing on the right wing.

A superb 1 - 2 with Dave saw Ian strike a scorcher to bag a goal in what finished a 6-2 victory to The Shambles.

The result was the second on the bounce for The Shambles and means that they go into the final two games with a top half of the table finish, a real possibility.

Everyone played ther part tonight with a workman like, professional and disciplined performance. Great teamwork and some individual flair really puts one in the eye to H Andbags.
