Game 4 was against BJH one of the Old Foe. The Shambles were looking to gain a win so they could keep up with the top half.
Like the previous week, the opposition was limited to 5 players. Let’s hope the result would be better.
Kick off and continuing the feeling of déjà vu The Shambles take an early lead, Blink stroking the ball home……1-0.
Jethro then made an unusually casual pass but The Shambles escaped with no harm done.
BJH were being restricted to speculative long shots at this stage.
Then came a moment sponsored by Specsavers. Will.I.Am made a defended a ball outside the box, by at least a couple of inches, but Dave the Ref was adamant that Will.I.Am had encroached. PENALTY.
I suppose Dave is munchkin-sized so is height disadvantage probably makes it harder to see the line clearly.
BJH hit home the penalty ……1-1
Will.I.Am was then too casual with an effort which hopelessly drifted nowhere. Liven up Boys.
Blink hits a long range effort which the BJH keeper saves with his feet, Better.
What’s this? Another Jethro give away. To be fair, his support, namely HRH, was not providing the support I told the defenders to give to each other. HRH where are you? Oh there he is….UP BLOODY FRONT and marooned. Take back last week’s half forgiveness.
A good Flash long range effort hit’s the post. Unlucky.
Then a terrible foul. Our Japanese import, Mickey, had not long been on when a BJH player employed Kung Fu tactics. Mistaking Mickey’s knee for a ball(?) the BJH player brought his foot down on it. OUCH!
At this point we are sure that Dave was not going to give a foul. But having seen Mickey go in to spasms, due to the pain, he resumed play with a free-kick.
Mercifully I can reveal that Mickey survived and has gone back to Japan with a mark on his leg that looks like the Rising Sun.
Jethro makes up for his earlier dodgy passes with a controlled long shot which takes a deflection off a BJH player past a despairing GK…..2-1. Well done , Jethro.
Half time.
Now to the second half……..
To be honest, I don’t have many notes for this half as it did not reach great heights.
Blink made it 3-1 with one of his speciality long range efforts. No doubt Flash will take some credit for inspiring Blink!!
There was a great move which ended with HRH receiving the ball…….as I said it ended at that point as HRH hit a woeful effort from a position he has so often scored.
A good Craig pass saw HRH hit his shot closer but still wide.
BJH did not really threaten in the second half, allowing HRH to go AWOL as has become customary without any danger (not customary).
The final moment of the match came from another long range Jethro effort, which hit the keeper and crawled its way into the goal as the GK flapped around…..4-1.
A good effort and another vital win. Some errors still to work out their way out of The Shambles’ system but another 3 points.
