The previous meeting between the Shambles and the Horse had been an exciting 8 goal thriller which unfortunately the Yellows were on the receiving end of a 5-3 scoreline... Was the scene set for a repeat??? The Shambles though had come into the game off the back of an impressive showing against the Lumberjacks to haul themselves off the bottom of the table...
With both sides being marooned in the lower reaches of the league, the game was predictably cagey at first... tackles flying in left right and centre... some genuine and others not so... apparently! classic case in point was Will.I.am's superb bambi on ice impressions and one cracking lunge in the corner... he claims he slipped over, cynics among us thought it was a brilliant 2 footed tackle!! Once Will.I.am managed to get his feet in order, he went close on a couple of occasions as the Shambles grew into the game...
But after some sparring between the 2 sides it was Blues who went closest - in his own net... a completely unexpected backpass from near halfway, forced James into a very smart save to his right... Obviously just making sure the 'keeper was awake!! (unfortunately that potential goal wouldn't have counted towards those golden boot dreams!!)
After a couple of substitutions it wasn't long before the breakthrough came...
Blink with a trademark swinger from his right foot, crept underneath the Horse 'keeper...
Horse 0 - 1 Shambles...
It didn't prove to be long before the second goal arrived... A very similar series of events to the opener... Blink shooting from range and managing to squeeze it under the 'keepers body!!
Horse 0 - 2 Shambles...
This ended up being the scoreline at half-time... Everyone playing their part in what was appearing to be a solid Shambles performance, minus the odd slip over or backpass!!
Second half began very much as the first had ended... A Blink goal!! This one however had owed an awful lot to the perfect weight of pass from Blues to create the opportunity...
Horse 0 - 3 Shambles...
Shambles were staring a second straight victory in the face... Things were looking very good going forward and defensively there was a potential clean sheet in the offering!! This was duley pointed out by Worst... So then the inevitable happened... The Horse scored!! He will claim it happened with him having been subbed!! Was a decent passing move in all honestly and ended with an effort James had no chance with...
Horse 1 - 3 Shambles...
The remainder of the game saw the Horse dominate the possession, but very rarely threaten the Shambles goal... The full-time whistle rang out with Shambles the victors 3 - 1...
Result will see the Shambles go clearer of bottom place... WOOP!! Swapping places with the Horse courtesy of goal difference and the word on the street is that our reward for being where we are in the league this season is......................................
PROMOTION!! Be afraid Div 1... Be very very afraid!!
