Shambles do the double against the league leaders to open the way for challengers
Shambles do the double against the league leaders to open the way for challengers

Hello Shambles Fans, still too lame to play the game, Captain Gman here resuming reporting duties.

Despite their their erratic results, the Shamblers turned up early and in good spirits. Even Blues & HRH did not leave it till kickoff to make an appearance.

The "Italian Traffic Cop" was back on refereeing duties this week. Would he be blowing his his whistle and waving his arms like a geriatric raver? Would chaos reign on the pitch? Let's find out.

Distracted by a fellow gantry watcher, I hardly noticed the game had started. Fortunately nothing of note happened.

League leaders, Knowles Sports, had the first fairly tame efforts. The Shambles were not quite firing on all cylinders.

Then at last the first chance for the Shambles. The ball found its way to Blues in a good position and he swung his leg. That was about it really, he swung his leg. The resulting connection had less power than if he had been using a straw to play "blow football".

Knowles then hiit a long ball into the corner by the Shambles goal. Ian chased it down and got there first, but like the proverbial hare, he stopped for a nap, and a Knowles tortoise beat him to the ball and hit it into the area. Fortunately no harm done.

Will.I.Am then had an effort go overthe bar. Fortunatley the barman had ducked to get a Pepsi from he fridge!

Next another Blues chance. We have often coached Blues to treat the ball like he is making love to a beautiful woman. Take hold of it and stroke it gently and take it where you want it to go. Clearly Blues technique is to get there too early and make a mess of the shot. No goal threat.

Worst hit a great long range effort which the keeper saved with his feet, a trend he seems to prefer.

Blues then woke up, and his persistence allowed him to put a ball across the area but sadly no one joined up with him.

Knowles then were unlucky with a shot that hit the post.

A good FK from Ian found Will.I.Am whose shot was saved.

Knowles then generously gave Flash the ball, allowing him to save his legs for later, and he hit a great long range effort, but still no goal.

Will.I.am then played a great ball through to Flash who as through on goal, but hisshotwas saved.

Half time 0-0. A fair reflection.

At the start of the second half The Shambles gave the ball away but no harm was done.

Knowles had a prolonged spell of possession on the edge of the Shambles' area (not in the Exorcist sense!), which ended with a greatand vital defensive block by Worst.

Clint then made a quick double save to keep Knowles at bay.

Worst then strode up towards the oppo goal, he fired.....it hit the wall. as I looked down to write "What a howler", the ball came back off the wall, hit the keeper, and went in. Jammy sod...I mean excellent effort. Saturday's residency in Riley's had clearly been a study of angles. 1-0

Next Flash played a great throughball to nutmeg the Knowles' defender, the ball found Blues. Surely he could not miss...the percentage stats show that he cprobaly would....but he did not...phew....2-0. well done Flash!!

A Flash long range effort was thn saved. Followed quickly by another Flash shot being saved. He's on fire.

HRH, or was it Mick Jagger ( an earlier blow to the face had done it's work....ah silence...well almost) then had a shot saved.

Knowles pulled a late one back, 2-1, but the damage was done. Another win over Knowles, and no they still did not like it.

Well played boys.
