Week 4 of the season, and The Shambles were looking to put last week's collapse behind them.
This week it was the turn of Flash to join me up in the Gods. Thank heavens he'll be back in the team next week! He was adamant that I had not spelt his name correctly in this week's team news, and kept telling anyone who would listen that this was the case.
Blink was serving a suspension this week after his career advice to the ref last week, which unsurprisingly was taken in the spirit it was given. Blink, the ref may be blind but he's not deaf.
Shambles kick off. SIN-bad is first to have a shot at goal which was blocked by the defence.
At the other end James saved a Crwlonians effort.
SIN-bad chased a through ball but it agonisingly rolled into the keeper's area befor he could connect.. Unlucky.
Next busy bee, Will.I.Am, had a shot saved. Shambles were showing good early form.
Carl was pressuring the opposition with his pace. Will.I.Am had another shot at goal.
At this point, Will.I.Am introduced some "Reverese" psychology into the game, with a string of backheels. Withe differing results.
Suddenly will broke through on goal.......a one-on-one......shot........saved. Doh!
Blues came on as sub. Worst made a good vital tackle to break up an OC attack.
Having just come on as a sub, Postie burst backwards in defence to head off another OC attack. Job done, great determination to avert disaster.
SIN-bad then got caught indulging in a toch of overplay on the edge of the area but no damage done. Phew!
Worst back on, no rest for the wicked! Blues hits a poor lay off...a bit nervous.
Postie exhibits good defence again.
Blues shot saved.
SIN-bad tracked back well to snuff out a potential OC attack then has a shot saved at the other end.
Unfortunatley the OC equivalent of Kanu, who seemed to have problems controlling his legs and the ball, stumbled through what appeared to be the whole Shambles before slotting the ball past Clint. Nooooooo.......1-0.
Postie improvised well to take control of what looked like being another OC effort.
Worst burst through towards a good through pass. However at this point a choice entered his head cauising him to hit an unbalanced effort. If only he'd hit it as well as it looked like he would. Unlucky, we've all been there.
Blues shot saved....Will shot saved.....half time.
Shambles were playing the better offensively and defending well for the most part. Keep it up.
At the start of the second half Postie and the "Offensive Defender" denostrated good teamwork in Defence.
The "Offensive Defender" then exhibited great footwork on the edge of the OC area, stopping to drag the ball back and calmly place it past the keeper. Great goal.....1-1.
Blues fizzed a shot past the far post.....Soooooo close.
Great Will.I.Am pass and Blues shot saved.
More good Will.I.Am play down the wing.
Blues good defence work.
SIN-bad shepherded the OC attacker well to prevent a scoring opportunity.
Postie played a great ball up the wing, which Will.I.Am collected in the corner, instantly laying it back to Postie who had continued his run. Postie was now clear in front of goal.....time slowed down like a Sky HD advert....was this the moment history would be made....Postie took the ball under control....all one could hear was his deafening heart beat reverberating in the gallery.....He took his shot...gooooooooosaved....No not again. manfully he strode back to defence accepting the inevitability of the moment and his goal scoring destiny.
Good Worst defence.
SIN-bad shot saved....Blues shot saved...Blues shot wide of post, unlucky....Blues then had a shot saved when through on goal, seemed certain to score but was slightly casual.
Out of nothing, The scorer of the first OC goal somehow scored again...2-1...Noooooooooo!!
A minute to go. The "Offensive defender " has another opportunity but the shot is saved.
Final whistle....ain't life a bitch. Played like trojans, with great composure, and end up losing.
Managers verdict: Great all round performance lads. You played the way that will get you a win more often than not. Controlled the match but the OCs took their two opportunities and the points. We had plenty of chances which is a positive.
Injury News: "Offensive Defender has ankle damage and will miss the next game.
