The possibility of maintaining a mid-table position slipped away again - in the very early minutes. I have trouble thinking of original phrases when descibing our performance. Yet again we were 'sloppy' in our defensive duties and somewhat 'lacking' in our finishing.
Credit to The Mug who pushed hard, closed the ball quickly & were hungry for victory. The keeper played a blinder and made the night frustrating for the Shanbles.
Initial encounters saw a gifted 1st goal for the Mug. Although suffering an early blow the Shambles didn't react quickly enough to the second wave of attack and conceded again. Keeper James unfortunate after a great reaction save was driven back in, 2-0.
Prior to half time there was a quick exchange of blows, each team hitting the metal wood work. Shambles lucky to remain 2-0 going into half time, Ade unlucky not to be pressing the golden boot after his strike hit the post.
The half time team talk rallied the Shambles, soon to be 3-0 down!
There was a moment of inspiration to lift the failing squad - (in his own words) Flash, from free kick ran in to corner, passed back to Craig who drove the ball from distance past the floundering keeper. Great finish, technically a 1-2.
That was that, another could have been. 3-1 on the night.
Reporters observations; Individually - great performances, notably keeper James & Craig. Defensively - sloppy. Attacking - not upto scratch. We are all individuals, we must work harder for each other, we must back each other up and we must understand each other. Most of all though, let's enjoy it!
