Unfortunately the shambles started as usual in a bit of disarray, two players going for the same ball, no communication when someone was in space and covering areas of the pitch without any opponent within sight. Horse capitalized with (it must be said) two good finishes past the sprawling James (18), both into the inside netting.
Although heads went down for a bit the shambles started playing a little better and Blues (14) spotted a run from HRH (36) who hoofed the ball into the back of the net 1-2. Sitting on the bench it was easy to see several opportunities where Blues could of turned to run at goal as Horse’ defensive marking was limited, but no one shouted to say he had space so he chose to pass instead. If the Shambles were starting to believe in themselves, it was short lived, as the Shambles pushed on for the equalizer they were struggling to get back at times leaving the Worst (42), HRH or Postie (20) on their own at the back. A few too eagerly committed tackles later and the shambles found themselves 1-5 down as the whistle blew for half time.
Half Time Shambles 1-5 Horse FC
The shambles realized that they had to play better and in the second half they did, we pushed up the field, but still closely marked the opposition when they had the ball, especially when the their keeper had the ball – making it hard for him to throw the ball out.
This tackle proved successful as the Horse started making mistakes and it wasn’t long till Bully (21) slotted home a left footer into the bottom RH corner of the Horses net. Within the next minute with continued pressure from the shambles a loose ball bounced up in front of Bully and after a thunder bolt of a shot the score was 3-5 and the shambles started feeling the game wasn’t lost.
Unfortunately some players on the shambles side had burnt themselves out - Flash (72) was struggling to get back and when he did get back into the corners defending the Alzheimer’s kicked in and he forgot where he and the ball was (disregarding all the screaming from his fellow players) and aloud the opposition to walk around him – even when the ball was at his feet!
The tired legs played their toll and the Horse scored a sixth goal to kill the game off.
