Did Shambles forget that the winter season had begun and the friendlies had finished!?! The 1st half showing indicated otherwise!!
In an outstandingly one sided first 10 mins Coogans chalked up 4 unanswered strikes to the Shambles nil.. One token effort on goal that struck the post was all that was mustered in return. A team with a combination of charitable defending and struggling to get out of their own half was a recipe for disaster..
The 2nd half, however, was a very different affair..
It appeared as if by magic, the friendly attitude adopted in the 1st half, changed to a team who meant business and had pride to play for..
Within minutes of the restart, Ian, yes Ian, with that lovely cultured left foot of his drove an effort into the bottom corner.. Another goal pulled back by Dave reduced the arrears further, before James profited from some generous Coogan defending..
4-3 and game on!!
Unfortunately, this was as close as it got.. James and Dave added further strikes as the Shambles battled their way to a 7-5 defeat..
Ups and downs of the Shambles were evident again, but if there was a paying customer they certainly would’ve gone home satisfied seeing such entertainment!! And also the what ifs that revolved around giving opposition a 4 goal headstart..
Well done lads for winning the 2nd half 5-3 though and also to Ian for heading the goalscoring charts for the winter season, even if was only for 3 mins!!
Craig..
