With nothing to play for other than pride, with the Shambles final league position already decided, an impressive 3rd .................(from bottom unfortunatly) the Shambles surly deserved more than another defeat.
When Chris finally arrived (sorry Chris HRH ) the Shambles stormed into an impressive 2 goal lead, with goals from from the 2 men having a personal dual for the golden boot, Craig and Ade.
Craig edged ahead with a typically composed finish, only to be pegged back by a super Ade goal soon after. This impressive start confirming the benefits of the early season squad rotation!
Cruising at 2-0 the Shambles minds must have been wandering towards taking the WAGS on an end of season holiday, a carribiean beach, a bar in the Costa Del Sol, no sorry a pre seaon freindly in sunny Droitwich.
In a flash a 2-0 lead became a 3-2 defecit, Where was the organisation? could this be due to the absence of the manager? enjoying a longer close season than the rest of the players.
A stunning goal by Ade after a fabulously presise pass by Dave made it 3-3 only for Knowles to regain the advantage soon after. upsteps craig to draw the match and the golden boot race level once again.
Both strikers must have decided a tie was a fair result for the season as both had good chances to claim the much sort after accolade as well as maybe 3 not so precious points for the Shambles, but both sportingly shot wide.
Knowles then managed a somewhat undeserved lead, keeper Darren must of been dreaming of his impending big money transfer ( well a couple of pints of stella aren`t cheap) as the ball squeezed through his legs at the near post.
Shambles pushed hard for an equaliser to no avail, dave left fuming at the final whistle- only 9 mins 24 seconds played in the second half - we were robbed.
so thats it for summer 2008 which brought 4 joyous wins including 1 CLEAN SHEET ( by default but Darren will take anything as things are surley going to get much worse for him next season)
well with my first and last report i would just like to say how much I have enjoyed the season playing for the Long established Shambles and a big thankyou to Ian for reviving my footballing carear. hope you are all looking foward to a pressing pre season after the end of season jolly up when due to extreme professionalism very little alcohol will be consumed!!!!!!!
