Following last weeks disappointing performance, the Shambles found themselves facing their arch rivals Coogan's Crusaders in Week 2.
This reporter/manager made sure that the Shambles defence knew that much more was expected this week.
WOW, what a diiference a week makes. With another newcomer, welcome Keith, in their midst, the Shambles seemed to have found their Viagra following last weeks limp performance. Also Chris returned to the fray to shore up the defence and provide vocal support (in other words ...tantrums...ear defenders at the ready!!).
Both sides put on a thoroughly entertaining display, by far the best game this reporter has witnessed in a while, and also played in the right spirit.
The Shambles struck first for the second week in row, 1-0. However the Crusaders clawed their way back into the game to take a 2-1 lead.
It appeared the Shambles had learnt their defensive lesson (despite a couple of near misses...heart stopped beating yet Ian?) and were exhibiting great tenacity, they were also making substitutions at the right time.
With a better formation, they came back to equalise, 2-2.
As befits a true Heavyweight contest, both sides threw punch and counterpunch to the bitter end. the Crusaders took a 3-2 lead and were no doubt hoping to defend their lead. Sadly for them, but fully deserved by an inspired Shambles, the equaliser was found 3-3.
This reporter applauded a great game at the final whistle. Let's hope the return fixture lives up to this classic. Thank you to both teams.
To the Shambles, the axe is back in its box !
