The final game of the season saw the Shambles facing top of the table , Pistol Nites so to be honest a surprise result wasn't really expected. However from the off The Shambles played with a passion and determination that didn't reflect their position at the bottom of the table. Both teams were taking it cautiously at first with neither team having the edge and the first 5 mins or so were very even. the Shambles were first to break the deadlock with in form striker Paul slotting home a well taken ball to put The Shambles ahead! Could there be a major upset on the cards? Could the Shambles pull a shock victory out of the bag? This was soon answered by what summed up the night really , an off target shot by the Pistols rebounded off the wall , hit hapless keeper Ian in the back and somehow ended up in the back of the net!! 1 -1
Not to be detered Shambles rallied again and soon found themselves in the unusual position of leading a game again with another great finish from Paul , 2 - 1 !
Pistol Nites responded by scoring an equaliser to make it 2 - 2 at half time.
The Shambles started the second half thinking that a victory was achievable but following a spell of unlucky shots off the opponents' posts it was not looking likely. Some tired legs and formation collapse proved to be the deciding factors in the result , oh and the fact that Pistol Nites scored another 7 lucky goals before the final whistle probably didnt help!!
Despite the result a very positive outcome with The Shambles showing great passion and determination but really hoping that the half time whistle could have been the final one!!
Oh by the way Chris and Graham ,we found your teddies , and both were promptly returned.
