It was noted that the shambles team all turned up especially early to this match, i think coming off the back of there first win had got under the skin of the whole team and they were itching for more points.
The game started with a lot riding on the outcome, the whole shambles team could sense the Hollywood ending to the season, could they pull off the miracle 3 wins in 3 to go above halcrow and stay in the 2nd division. The start of the game didn't quite fit the script as blackpole took the lead by banging in 2 in quick succession, the second of which given a helping hand by our fearless leader TIM!!! some call it an own goal (mainly Dave) but the dubious goals committee are still working on it. Coming from behind was nothing new for any of the shambles veterans. The team rallied together and had a 5 minute spell which would not have looked out of place in the FA cup final whereby shambles dominated possession and scored 4. The first a cracking finish by Chris, who recently told reporters that he's been struggling to catch the goal scoring leader and has been having a hard time sleeping because of it.. This goal may have done something to stem that had the next 3 goals not all been scored by that man, the man the whole league is talking about Paul to extend his lead at the top of the goal scoring chart. The first a penalty, maintaining sumner’s 100% penalty record the second and third brilliant crafted team goals with special mention to Dave for assisting the 3rd.
Half-time
The second half didn’t start of the way that everyone was hoping with blackpole scoring within seconds with a fluke goal which Ian and the rest of the team had no chance of stopping as the wall was used as the 6th blackpole man, 4-3. Another tight game. The work rate was excellent from the shambles team and Tim stepped up to extend our lead once more, possibly making up for the own goal in the first half, I’ll leave that to you to decide (5-3). The last few minutes of the game saw all the hard work the shambles had put in take its toll and fatigue kicked in. although the whole team dug deep, using every last resource they had blackpole managed to score 4 in the dieing moments to seal the win and destroy the Hollywood dream.
