MATCH REPORT

After last week's dismal display against a lower division side in the cup, the lads were determined to pull their socks up and make sure they were counted for in this weeks clash with the B.J.H.

Before the game Dave & Ade informed the team of the footballing talents of one ringer Mark 'Smudger' Smith within the B.J.H. team and once they had told their team mates they knew they would not have to worry about him doing anything significant during the game!

The game started well with Crouchy supporting Chris & Ian in defense and then hitting the opposition on the break. This enables us to keep an unsual clean sheet for the first few minutes and then crouchy improved matters by starting the scoring with a cracking shot giving the keeper no chance. 0-1 to The Shambles.

The boys were playing well even through a series of subtitutions to try and eat up time in the first half by the skipper, since we were leading. It all went pear shaped when, Yes, you guessed it the ringer (see above) decided to take part within the game and after a few over stretched commitments the ringer had blasted in a hat trick to make the half time score 3 - 1 to the B.J.H.

Another team might of rolled over and died, but no! With the skipper bellowing (encouraging) from the touch lines no-one dared to drop their heads and the Shambles soon got their rewards. With a few niffty passses with Dave, Crouchy was in the clear to make it 3-2. Within as little as a minute Chris belted up the wing to blast a cracking shot on to the oppositions goal post only the drop in front of the striding Ian, who had ran the length of the pitch to slot the 3rd goal home, making it 3-3

Encouraged by the score line, another series of subtitutions followed to try and settle for the draw to give the shambles their first point of the season. Unfortunately the B.J.H.'s didn't see it that way and the ringer ripped an undeserved screamer past young Tom in goal, who was giving a sterling account of himself. Within the next minute we were all surprised to see another player on the B.J.H. team show a bit of skill in front of goal to slot a fifth in to make it 5-3 to the B.J.H.

Skipper Tim 'The tyrant' obviously thought enough is enough and subbed himself one again to add a bit more presence into the Shambles side. It soon paid dividends after a few heavy shoulder barges, a bit of space showed itself to the skipper and in uncharacteristic form hoofed the ball with all his might past the opposing keeper, making it 5-4.

The next 30 seconds few by and the whistle was blown much to the dismay of the Shambles as the whole team knew it was a game that could of been won with impressive performances by all the players.
