After the final game of last season...a certain player's outburst made it quite clear that he wanted players with more commitment and loyalty, asserting that this was a limiting factor to the success of the team. Not sure how this conclusion was reached but fair enough, a man's entitled to his opinion - Most express theirs with more tact and diplomacy though. Furthermore, said player childishly invited players to play for the Shambles in front of Carl and James- as if he wanting to oust them. Whilst noting that this was conveyed post match and may have been blurted out in the "after-glow" of the moment, you may forgive the "deserters" for being slightly disenchanted. Before heading off to their respective cars James requested to be informed of team updates. The next we heard was on the Sunday before the league started, 4 days notice. We deliberated, and decided not to play. It had not been the intention to jump ships but a friend asked us to play over the same weekend.....and on balance believed it was probably the right thing to do. We appreciate that the timing was shitty....but we refuse to be painted out as unscrupulous tossers with no respect. We loved our time playing for the Shambles and will look back on it fondly....but felt it was time to go. After all, this league is meant to be "a bit of fun", where would the fun be playing for a team where it was clear there is some underlying animosity. We apologise to you all and wish the team all the success! Hopefully we will meet.........preferably by way of us being promoted and not the converse. We appreciate you may have bitter after-tastes, but felt we deserved the opportunity to air our thoughts in this "arena".

 

All the best to the new recruits....we hope that this time will allow for some constructive restructuring that will result in a well consolidated team.

Carl and James

Well thursday sees the start of a new season. It should have started with a strengthened squad from the record  breaking line up that finished last season. Former golden boot Paul 'The Crouch' Sumner replaces another previous golden boot Carlos Roque. BUT two shock , last minute resignations from the club in James and Carl has put the new campaign into a bit of a spin.

 

So two players down, an injury to stalwart Graham and the unavailabilty of Captain Carthorse compounds the problem.

 

Tom joins on trial as first choice keeper with Chris, Ian, The Crouch and Whispering Bob completing the starting lineup. Hopeful Carlos will return for a short term loan as will Bash but time is running out in the effort to find a short term solution to the selection Crisis

 

One things is for sure Captain Carthorse is chomping at the bit to get back in action with his team mates.

 

Hopefully the hardcore five that start tomorrow can do the business against last season table toppers BJH
